MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen says she’s happy to reach a WNBA milestone as a member of the team in her home state.

Whalen became the all-time winningest player in league history Friday when the visiting Lynx defeated the Washington Mystics 98-73. It was the 295th win in 14 seasons for Whalen, who moved past Swin Cash.

Whalen is a native of Hutchinson and played college basketball at the University of Minnesota. She was traded to the Lynx from Connecticut in 2010.

Whalen says she could not have won so many games without her teammates and was happy she “could do it as a Lynx.”

Minnesota head coach Cheryl Reeve says Whalen has represented what it means to be a Lynx, who are 8-0 on the season.
