A brand of toilet paper to be labeled “Trump” after the sitting U.S. president should hit grocery shelves in Mexico soon.

The Associated Press explains that enterprising Mexican attorney Antonio Battaglia is behind the project and has gotten the go-ahead from Mexican patent officials.

It turns out that President Trump does not hold any rights to the use of his surname south of the border when it comes to “hygienic paper” products, although he’s been careful to trademark his name for various other purposes, including real estate, construction and finance, the AP said.

The packaging for Trump toilet paper promises “softness without borders” and depicts a toilet-paper roll sporting a blond wig that looks remarkably like the president’s coiffure.

A search of Amazon’s Mexican website yields various gag-gift toilet papers that bear an image of Mr. Trump on them. The items are fairly pricey on Amazon.com.mx: One such roll would set you back nearly 467 pesos, or $25 in U.S. dollars.

Mr. Battaglia’s product, by contrast, appears to be simple, unadorned toilet paper, the only reference to Trump coming on the plastic packaging for the four-roll set. While he hopes the trial run is a big league success, he’s also planning on directing a whopping 30 percent of the profits to charities that benefit Mexican migrants, the AP said.
