Nigel Farage, former leader of the United Kingdom’s Independence Party, said Thursday that the British public’s dislike of Prime Minister Theresa May is why her poll numbers are lagging.

“The more Theresa May appears on our TV screens, the less people like her, and that’s the main reason that her lead has gone down. And I think what you’re going to see in the last week of this campaign is a lot more of Boris Johnson and a lot less of Theresa May. She’s just bombing with the public,” Mr. Farage said on Fox News.

Ms. May called for an election to strengthen her position on Brexit, but it’s now looking like a much closer election than previously thought. The election is set for June 8.
