DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office in investigating the death of an inmate, who was a lawyer recently suspended from the state bar.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/2qBSaCW ) reports 51-year-old Ali F. Morad, of Brookhaven, died Friday at DeKalb Medical Center after a “medical emergency” at the jail.

Morad, who ran his own firm, had been in jail since May 10 on an aggravated stalking charge. Records show Morad was suspended from practicing law in April for failing to “adequately” respond to a disciplinary investigation.

The sheriff’s office, in a news release Wednesday, said Morad received help at the jail’s main medical unit before being transported to the DeKalb Medical Center. The county medical examiner’s office hasn’t released a cause of death.
