Fox Business Network has suspended “Making Money” host Charles Payne amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
“We take issues of this nature extremely seriously and have a zero-tolerance policy for any professional misconduct,” a Fox Business Network representative said in a statement, The Los Angeles Times reported. “This matter is being thoroughly investigated and we are taking all of the appropriate steps to reach a resolution in a timely manner.”
Mr. Payne wrote in a series of tweets Friday that the allegation is an “ugly lie” that he intends to fight “like a lion armed with truth.”
“Days ago a reporter contacted me about (false) allegations and asked for a comment. I gave an immediate reply. He reported story w/out them,” he wrote. “This was my reply: ’That is an ugly lie I vehemently deny to my core. There is a mountain of proof that also proves its a lie.’”
“I will fight this like a lion armed with truth. Thanks so much to all those that have reached out in support. #FightingBack,” he added.
21st Century Fox is reportedly investigating allegations by a woman who previously worked for CNN and frequently appeared on Fox Business and Fox News from 2013 to 2016. The woman claims she was blacklisted from appearing on Fox after she ended a sexual relationship with Mr. Payne, a source told The Los Angeles Times.
Mr. Payne, who is married, acknowledged the affair to the National Enquirer this week, describing it as a three-year “romantic relationship” with another married on-air talent. He apologized to his family and friends.
