ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - Tina Charles had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Kiah Stokes added 10 points and 16 rebounds and the New York Liberty beat the Chicago Sky 86-82 on Sunday night.
Sugar Rodgers hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, Epiphanny Price scored 12 points, and Shavonte Zellous had 10 for New York (12-10). The Liberty, who have won four of five, shot a season-high 53.3 percent (8 of 15) from 3-point range.
Five New York players scored during a 17-4 run to open the second quarter that made it 37-26 with 5:33 left in the half and the Liberty led the rest of the way. Jessica Breland’s jumper capped a 10-4 run that trimmed Chicago’s deficit to 84-82 with 41 seconds left. New York got two offensive rebounds on the other end before a steal by the Sky’s Stephanie Dolson, but she missed a potential tying jumper with four seconds to go. Zellous hit two free throws to seal it.
Allie Quigley hit 4 of 6 from 3-point range and finished with 22 points for Chicago (8-16). Breland had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Courtney Vandersloot added 12 points and 10 assists. The Sky have lost three in a row.
