LA SALLE, Ill. (AP) - Officials in La Salle say the community’s 1928 fire truck will be moving into a new home this year.

The (La Salle) News-Tribune (https://bit.ly/2speCQo ) reports that the community is constructing a display building near the fire station at Fifth and Sterling streets for the American-LaFrance ladder truck. The truck has been on display for nearly two decades in the public works building at Second and Wright streets.

Officials say a concrete pad for the display has been constructed and the building that will have a large window for people to view the truck is expected to be completed in the fall.

The truck was the second of two American La-France ladder trucks purchased by the community after the fire department sold off its horses in 1917 to become motorized.
