BRANDYWINE, Md. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a break-in and shooting that left one person dead in a Maryland home.

The Washington Post reports that Prince George’s County police said in a statement on Twitter that two suspects broke into a home near Brandywine and exchanged gunfire with people inside the home.

Prince George’s County police spokesman Cpl. Harry Bond says one of the suspects was shot and killed while the other suspect escaped.

Authorities say one of the occupants of the home suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Bond says the shooting does not appear to be random. He says police are investigating ties between the occupants of the home and the suspects.

The motive for the break-in is under investigation.
