OPINION:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell threw in the white flag on Obamacare repeal on Friday, admitting defeat and telling his Republicans in a voice that seemed close to cracking that it’s “time to move on” to other matters.
And all the Democrats go: We won.
“This is clearly a disappointing moment,” McConnell said, on the Senate floor just shortly after three fellow Republicans voted against the so-called “skinny” repeal. “I regret that our efforts were simply not enough this time. Now, I imagine many of our colleagues on the other side are celebrating. Probably pretty happy about all this. But the American people are hurting, and they need relief.”
And the head-hanging moment?
“It is time to move on,” McConnell said. The Senate, apparently, will be debating new matters on Monday.
So what about Obamacare? What about health care reform? Republicans — or, as Democrats now like to call them, The Left’s Best Friend — will be turning toward their liberal counterparts across the political aisle for help on health care.
“We’ll see how the American people feel about their ideas,” McConnell said.
There’s not yet been a survey conducted, but likely, this is going to be the response from the conservative camps: Why elect Republicans when they’re just going to let the Democrats rule?
That’s basically the message that was sent to the American people last night.
The party defectors? The Democrats in disguise who voted against repeal?

Trump tweeted, in part: “3 Republicans and 48 Democrats let the American people down.”
Exactly. And angry voters will indeed remember in 2018.
