LOS ANGELES (AP) - The former mayor of Compton has been convicted of using thousands of dollars in taxpayer funds for personal expenses including golf shoes, cigars and pricey hotel stays.

The Los Angeles Times (https://lat.ms/2h9LNSY ) says Bradley was found guilty Friday of two counts of misappropriating public funds.

Prosecutors say that between 1999 and 2001, Bradley used a city-issued credit card and cash advances to cover about $7,500 worth of purchases unrelated to city business.

Bradley was first convicted in 2004 and spent three years in state prison before an appeals court overturned his conviction in 2012.

Bradley ran for mayor again this year but lost to incumbent Aja Brown.
