PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in Jefferson County say two people were killed and a third person was injured when the vehicle they were in was struck by a train.

Little Rock television station KATV reports that a Union Pacific train was southbound Thursday when it collided with a vehicle that was on the railroad tracks. The Sheriff’s Office says the car came to a rest about 20 feet from the railroad crossing.

Authorities say three women were in the car at the time of the crash. Their names were not immediately released. The sheriff’s office says the driver of the vehicle was airlifted in undisclosed condition to a hospital for treatment.

Additional details about the collision were not immediately available.
