ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A three-vehicle crash has claimed the lives of two people in Maryland.

Maryland State Police said in a press release early Wednesday that troopers received a report of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 50 in Annapolis. Moments later, a trooper came upon the crash shortly after 2 a.m.

Authorities pronounced two people dead at the scene. They were the drivers of two of the vehicles involved. The driver and passenger of a third vehicle were injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

State police said Route 50 at Bay Dale Drive is expected to be closed for several hours.
