PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Doug Ducey has a new budget director.

An announcement Tuesday by Ducey’s office says former legislative budget aide Matthew Gress is the new director of the Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning & Budgeting.

Gress currently is a policy adviser for Arizona Corporation Commissioner Andy Tobin.

A spokesman for Ducey’s office says Gress’ appointment to head the governor’s budget staff fills a vacancy created by the resignation earlier this summer of Lorenzo Romero.
