PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The National Constitution Center says it will offer a limited number of complimentary tickets for the 29th annual Liberty Medal ceremony honoring U.S. Sen. John McCain.

Requests can be made on the center’s website beginning at noon Tuesday, Aug. 15. Complimentary tickets will be awarded via a random drawing for current center members on Wednesday, Sept. 13, and for the general public on Thursday, Sept. 14.

The Philadelphia museum announced earlier that the six-term Arizona senator will be honored Oct. 16. for his “lifetime of sacrifice and service” to the country.

McCain’s office announced earlier this month that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

McCain, a 22-year Navy veteran, spent years in a prisoner of war camp after his plane was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967.
