With the recent murder of three Israelis, a father and two children, in their home, the toll from Palestinian terrorist attacks in the past few days has reached five. Instead of accepting responsibility, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas acts yet again as the aggrieved party after inciting his Palestinian-Arab terrorists to commit murder.

Mr. Abbas’ excuses ring false as he continues to call for violence and praises the murderers as martyrs, with their relatives now entitled to substantial pensions (incidentally funded by American taxpayers).

Mr. Abbas’ call for violent protests and the murder of Israelis should qualify him as complicit in murder. Certainly these attacks do not present an avenue to Palestinian-Arab statehood, even if one ignores the non-negotiable terms by Mr. Abbas. These include the return of the descendants of Palestinian Arabs who left during the Israeli War of Independence to destroy the Jewish homeland, the evacuation of all lands lost during the 1967 and 1973 wars to eradicate Israel, and no recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.

Israel has been generous in allowing no punishment for Mr. Abbas for his incitement to murder. A short prison stay might change his future actions.
