JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia island authority will begin test runs of a free trolley shuttle service to meet the needs of residents and visitors.

The Brunswick News reports that the Jekyll Island Authority will test The Jolley service between Beach Village and the Historic District for the next two weekends.

JIA Marketing Communications Manager Jessica Scott says the service has been requested by businesses, residents and guests, especially during busy seasons.

The trolley has 40 seats and is ADA accessible. Drivers will provide a brief tour during the trip.

The test run will help determine shuttle routes and hours and whether it will remain free. Officials will determine whether to extend service to the mainland at a later time.

The authority says it will use its own vehicle and staff.
