OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The Salvation Army and Omaha television station KETV are again teaming up to distribute new school supplies to kids in need and are seeking donations.

Since 1998, the Back to School backpack program has helped thousands of children by providing them with backpacks, school supplies and free school health checks at locations across the Omaha area.

Donations of new supplies can be dropped off at Methodist clinics and hospitals and Fun-Plex. Items being accepted include rulers, spiral notebooks, erasers, glue, crayons, theme paper, folders, pens and pencils. Donations of backpacks, tissues, markers, reusable water bottles and hand sanitizer also are being accepted.

School supplies will be distributed to students Aug. 11 and 12 in the Omaha metropolitan area.
