DETROIT (AP) - A free seminar for people interested in buying homes in the Detroit area is being offered by Bank of America and Southwest Solutions.
It’s open to the public Saturday at the MSU Detroit Center on Woodward Avenue.
The seminar is designed to provide education on the homebuying process. Participants also can learn if they qualify for up to $30,000 in down-payment assistance, a $2,500 closing cost grant and buyer certification.
Southwest Solutions is a Detroit nonprofit that provides affordable housing and support services, education, job training, neighborhood revitalization and economic development.
The group says its homebuyer education workshops had a role in the purchase of 70 homes last year in Detroit.
