OPINION:
Sean Spicer has resigned.
Anthony Scaramucci is the new White House communications director.
And the media’s many left-leaning, anti-President Donald Trump members, just minutes into the announcement, are already having a field day with the chaos that’s ensued.
“Reince Priebus furious, per multiple who spoke w him,” tweeted Maggie Haberman, of The New York Times. “He has tried blocking Scaramucci at various points.”
This, from Jonathan Karl of ABC News: “Strange times — I just went to ask @PressSec (@seanspicer) a question about @Scaramucci. He slammed the door in my face.”
He followed that minutes later, with this tweet: “Confirmed: @PressSec (@seanspicer) has resigned.”
And from NBC/MSNBC’s Katy Tur, these tweets: “Next question: What happens to Reince?” and “Spicer was telling folks last night he would resign if Scaramucci was hired. Said he didn’t think Scaramucci could do the job. — source close.”
And from CNN, this Twitter post: “Spicer believed this morning the president was doing something that would not allow him to succeed.”
Scaramucci’s acceptance of the role comes amid Trump’s face-off with the left over lingering questions about Russia and election collusion — of which there has been no proof, but also of which the media won’t let go.
He’s more a fundraising guy, than communications specialist. But he’s also worked with Trump’s transition team.
And what’s certain: The media, the anti-Trump media in particular, can’t wait to get their hands on him and use him as the latest tool to show a White House in total disarray.
