MERRILL, Wis. (AP) - A 21-year-old Merrill man has been charged with fatally stabbing his father.
Tyler Monroe is charged in Lincoln County with first-degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse and five other felonies. The body of 55-year-old Kevin Monroe was found in the Merrill home he shared with his son on Jan. 12, 2016. Prosecutors say the father had been stabbed 26 times.
Authorities arrested Monroe’s son the same day after he crashed his father’s car in rural Lincoln County. He was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant after police said they found eight guns in the car.
WJFW-TV (https://bit.ly/2gNJeWw ) reports the criminal complaint doesn’t indicate a clear motive, but that the two may have had a rocky relationship. Tyler Monroe’s attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
