OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the life-without-parole prison sentences of a 27-year-old man convicted of the 2014 shooting deaths of two women.

The court handed down the decision Thursday in the case of Quantell Jamar Alverson, who was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in the Nov. 26, 2014, deaths of 26-year-old Amanda Drywater-Douglas and 37-year-old Jennifer Lynn Sudar.

Each of the victims died from multiple gunshot wounds at an east Tulsa apartment complex. A car that investigators believed Alverson had driven from the scene was found partially burned two weeks later.

Among other things, the appellate court rejected claims by Alverson that numerous errors prevented him from receiving a fair trial. His defense attorney, Nicole Dawn Herron, didn’t immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
