BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore has recorded its first two murders for the second half of 2017.

The Baltimore Sun reports that two people were killed on Saturday.

The first was a 22-year-old man who was found in Northwest Baltimore shortly after 1 a.m. He died at a hospital from gunshot wounds. Police did not identify him.

Police said the second man was shot in a car in East Baltimore that afternoon. Police did not identify him. He later died at a hospital.

The two deaths brought the number of murders in the city to 172 this year.

The 170 homicides that occurred during the first half of 2017 are the second highest six-month tally in Baltimore history. The highest was in 1992, when the city had 116,000 more residents.
