RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with first-round draft pick Martin Necas.

General manager Ron Francis said Friday that Necas has received a three-year, entry-level contract worth $832,500 per season in the NHL or $70,000 a year in the minor leagues. The deal included a signing bonus of $277,500.

The 18-year-old forward from the Czech Republic played last season in his home country’s top professional league and had seven goals and eight assists in the regular season with three of those goals coming on the power play. He added four goals in 10 playoff games while helping his team win a championship.
