CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) - A woman’s body has been found on a bike path at a North Carolina Marine base.
Local media outlets report officials at Camp Lejeune say the body was found around 6 a.m. on the section of the bike path that approaches the main gate at the base. While that section of the bike path is on base, civilians have access to it.
Officials haven’t said whether the woman is a Marine or a civilian.
A base spokesman says Naval Criminal Investigative Service is looking into the woman’s death. Camp Lejeune has closed a nearby contractor vetting office and an entry gate as well as the bike path.
