ATLANTA (AP) - Three Georgians are among 11 intended federal judge nominees announced by the White House.
Tapped Thursday to serve on the bench for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District are: Michael Lawrence Brown, a former federal prosecutor in both Georgia and Florida and now a partner in the Atlanta office of law firm Alston & Bird; and William “Billy” McCrary Ray II, the presiding judge on the Georgia Court of Appeals.
Ray was previously a superior court judge in the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit and a state senator.
Tilman E. “Tripp” Self III was selected to serve in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District.
Self has served on the Georgia Court of Appeals since January 1 and was previously a superior court judge in the Macon Judicial Circuit.
