BOSTON (AP) - Two men have been indicted in the 2016 fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in Boston.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office says 25-year-old Calvin Boykins and 24-year-old Jonathan Aguasvivas both face charges including first-degree murder and assault.

Boykins was arraigned Thursday after being arrested earlier in the week and is being held without bail.

Aguasvivas already was in custody after being charged in a separate killing in 2016 and is expected to be arraigned later.

The men are accused of killing Marquis Waithe on Feb. 4, 2016, in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood. Authorities say Aguasvivas was the gunman and that Boykins assisted him.

A lawyer for Aguasvivas said his client will plead not guilty. He has pleaded not guilty to separate charges in the 2016 slaying of 17-year-old Raekwon Brown in Boston.

Attorney Brian Kelley says he believes Boston police have worked to spread negative information about Aguasvivas and says “it’s going to be difficult for him to get a fair trial in Boston.”

A lawyer for Boykins did not immediately provide comment on Thursday.
