The International Olympic Committee voted unanimously Tuesday that it can award two future Summer Olympics simultaneously, increasing the likelihood of Los Angeles being selected to host the Games in either 2024 or 2028.
Contingents from Paris and Los Angeles made presentations Tuesday before the IOC in Lausanne, Switzerland, each bidding to host the 2024 Games. In an unprecedented move, the IOC decided that it will seek a three-way deal with both cities, awarding one city the 2024 Games and the 2028 Games to the other.
While he was not in Switzerland for Los Angeles’ presentation, President Trump tweeted out his support of the city’s Olympic bid Tuesday morning.

If a deal is reached between the IOC, Paris and Los Angeles, the hosts for the 2024 and 2028 Summer Olympics will be revealed in September when the IOC convenes in Lima, Peru. If no deal is reached, however, only the rights to the 2024 Games will be awarded.
The United States has not hosted the Olympics since the Winter Games came to Salt Lake City in 2002; the Summer Games last hosted in Los Angeles in 1984.
