WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities say a 13-month-old boy is in stable condition after being shot and wounded during an exchange of gunfire.
The Washington Post reports the boy was shot Monday night following a shooting that occurred in or near an alley.
D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham says there was an outdoor gathering on the residential street and that the boy was not targeted in the shooting. He says the child is in stable condition and undergoing surgery for a wound to his lower extremities.
Authorities are investigating the shooting. Further details have not been released.
