COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Latest on a police officer shown on video apparently kicking a suspect in the head (all times local):

9:45 p.m.

The family of a man shown on video apparently being kicked in the head by an Ohio police officer says it’s pleased the officer has been fired but it wants “more investigation into his prior acts.”

The family of Demarko Anderson says if the Columbus police department can’t be counted on to properly investigate and discipline a “reckless” and “unfit” officer that calls into question its entire disciplinary history.

Anderson’s family says it wants to know what Mayor Andy Ginther will do to ensure all officers are held accountable for excessive use of force, not just those officers caught on video.

The city’s public safety director announced the decision to fire officer Zachary Rosen on Monday. The mayor says he supports the decision.

The police chief had recommended Rosen be suspended. The police union says Rosen should be reinstated.

The union representing Columbus, Ohio, police is demanding the immediate reinstatement of an officer fired after he subdued a restrained suspect in a way that appeared to show him kicking the suspect in the head.

Local Fraternal Order of Police president Jason Pappas says officer Zachary Rosen was fired in an unjust manner in a political decision by city administrators.

The city’s public safety director announced the decision to fire Rosen on Monday.

A video taken April 8 shows a Columbus officer restraining a prone man and preparing to handcuff him when a second officer arrives and appears to kick the man in the head.

The second officer has been identified as Rosen. Police say he reported his action under standard police procedure for when force is used.
