CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - In a story Jan. 9 about House Speaker Tim Moore’s chief of staff going to work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, The Associated Press misspelled the last name of the UNC-Chapel Hill chancellor. Her last name is Folt, not Folts.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Speaker Moore’s chief of staff leaves for UNC-Chapel Hill

House Speaker Tim Moore’s chief of staff for the past two years has a new job at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - House Speaker Tim Moore’s chief of staff since 2015 has a new job at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

School Chancellor Carol Folt said Monday that Clayton Somers has started as vice chancellor of public affairs and secretary of the university. A UNC-Chapel Hill news release says the job focuses on state and federal relations and issues. Somers also will work closely with the UNC system and the school’s trustee board.

Somers attended UNC-Chapel Hill as an undergraduate and Wake Forest University law school. He previously worked at Raleigh law firms, the North Carolina Turnpike Authority and the N.C. High School Athletic Association.

The change comes two days before the General Assembly convenes its two-year session. Moore is expected to be re-elected to another term as speaker.
