DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Police have charged a Davenport woman with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of her husband while he slept.
The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/2i5MAnS ) police arrested 52-year-old Shiela Jo Jasper after responding to her home Saturday night to investigate a death.
Officers found 64-year-old Mark Jasper dead from a gunshot wound.
An arrest affidavit states that Jasper told police she shot Jasper in the head while he was asleep on a living room chair. She covered his face with a towel and waited several hours before contacting a mortuary.
Shiela Jo Jasper was being held at the Scott County jail on a $1 million bond.
Court records don’t indicate whether she has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
