CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Gov. Chris Sununu is asking New Hampshire’s government agencies to put a halt on imposing new regulations and to review the effectiveness of every single one that’s already on the books.
The Republican governor on Friday asked each agency, department, board, commission, or other authority to put a pause on the proposed adoption or amendment of administrative rules until March 31. He’s giving an exception to any that are “immediately essential to the public, health, safety or welfare” or any that are mandated by law. It’s unclear how many regulations will actually be halted given these exceptions.
He’s also asking agencies to review every rule on its books and prepare a report explaining each one. The goal is to repeal regulations that aren’t essential. Each agency follows thousands of regulations.
