BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Que Johnson hit the go-ahead jumper with 25 seconds left and Pancake Thomas iced it with a pair of free throws with five seconds left in Western Kentucky’s 82-80 win over Charlotte on Thursday night.
Que Johnson and Thomas finished with 14 points each. Justin Johnson added 12 points and Anton Waters and Jabari McGhee added 11 points apiece for the Hilltoppers (9-7, 3-0 Conference USA), who won their fifth straight.
Charlotte (7-7, 1-2) led 52-51 with 13:08 left until Justin Johnson tied it at 72 with a pair of free throws with 3:26 left. Jon Davis put Charlotte back in front with a basket that was the 49ers’ last lead although they tied it at 76 and 78.
Andrien White had 20 points, Davis scored 14, Hudson Price 11 and Anthony Vanhook 10. Charlotte had its largest lead at 61-55 with 8:18 to go.
