MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont Gov. Phil Scott says economic development will be the top priority of his administration.
Scott, a Republican who took office Thursday, says there is going to be a significant realignment of the state’s economic development tools.
He says that in talking to employers across the state he’s learned the biggest obstacles to growth are a lack of qualified workers and the cost of quality housing, the lack of which makes it difficult to attract talent.
So Scott says his administration will invest in programs to help train Vermonters to fill existing jobs and officials will look for ways to expand the availability of good homes for working families and young professions.
