President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday it’s “wrong” to say he agrees with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and that he’s actually a “big fan” of “intelligence.”

“The dishonest media likes saying that I am in Agreement with Julian Assange - wrong. I simply state what he states, it is for the people…to make up their own minds as to the truth. The media lies to make it look like I am against ’Intelligence’ when in fact I am a big fan!” Mr. Trump tweeted.

On Wednesday, Mr. Trump shared part of a new interview in which Mr. Assange asserted that the Russian government was not WikiLeaks’ source for the election season leaking of communications from Democratic officials.

Critics said the move indicated that Mr. Trump was siding with Mr. Assange over the U.S. intelligence community, which has said Russia is behind the hacks.
