President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday called on Democrats and Republicans to come together to find a replacement for Obamacare, saying Democrats are well aware of the mess they’re currently in with the law.

“The Democrats, lead by head clown Chuck Schumer, know how bad ObamaCare is and what a mess they are in,” Mr. Trump tweeted, referring to the Senate minority leader.

The president-elect said that instead of working to fix the law, Democrats are simply casting blame, saying Obamacare was “a lie from the beginning.”

“It is…time for Republicans & Democrats to get together and come up with a healthcare plan that really works - much less expensive & FAR BETTER!” Mr. Trump said.

Republicans say repealing Obamacare is one of their top priorities in the new Congress.

Democrats, meanwhile, say the GOP has to come up with a viable replacement if they’re going to send a repeal bill to Mr. Trump’s desk for his signature.

Mr. Schumer responded to a reference from Mr. Trump to the “Schumer clowns” earlier this week.

“I think Republicans should stop clowning around with the people’s Medicare, Medicaid, and health care,” he said Wednesday.
