For the past two days, the Washington Capitals have fielded a lot of questions about the Columbus Blue Jackets and their epic 16-game win streak ahead of Thursday night’s game, and it’s clearly starting to get on their nerves.
When Caps forward Andre Burakovsky was asked if he would approach the game differently, he maintained that it’s just the next game on the schedule, but added that it’ll be great for his team to end the Columbus run.
“Just another game,” Burakovsky said. “I mean, we’re going to go out with the same mindset as every single game we play in. Obviously they’re on a huge winning streak right here, and it’s going to be a really good, fun moment for us to end it.”
The Blue Jackets have vaulted to the top of the Metropolitan Division and the NHL during the streak, which is one off the NHL’s all-time record set by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1992-93 season.
The Capitals sit seven points behind Columbus in the division standings.
