Rep. Louie Gohmert, Texas Republican, on Tuesday applauded President Trump’s firing of Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, saying political “hacks” “have to be jacked.”

“She violated her oath. She needed to go. She obviously had a political agenda because if she cared about the Constitution and she thought there was some problem with naming these seven countries, she should have brought that up before Obama left office,” Mr. Gohmert said on “Fox & Friends.”

“But politically, she showed herself to be a political hack, and hacks have to be jacked,” he said. “And she’s been jacked, and she’s gone.”

Mr. Trump fired Ms. Yates Monday evening after she instructed Justice Department lawyers not to present arguments for Mr. Trump’s “extreme vetting” executive order restricting travel from seven majority-Muslim countries.

The White House said Ms. Yates “betrayed the Justice Department” with the move and that she is “weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration.”
