SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A former Herriman Boy Scout leader has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for molesting a member of his troop.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2jz97FB ) that 47-year-old Lyle Mackay on Monday was sentenced to three years to life in the Utah State Prison. He previously pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

According to court documents, Mackay invited an 11-year-old scout member to play board games at his house in March. The boy told police Mackay touched him inappropriate.

Mackay was not hosting an officials Boy Scout activity at the time of the molestation.

Great Salt Lake Council of Boy Scouts of America executive Mark Griffin says Mackay’s behavior is unacceptable and does not represent the Boy Scouts of America.
