BURLEY, Idaho (AP) - A woman born on January 1 gave birth to an Idaho hospital’s only 2017 New Year’s Day baby.

The Times-News reports (https://bit.ly/2hO36Zz ) that Cataleya Sia Alvarez arrived 10 days earlier than expected at Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley. Her mother, Briana Leon, was the seventh baby born on New Year’s Day in Burley in 1993.

Leon and Samuel Alvarez of Oakley say their baby girl’s early birth was unexpected but everything was ok.

Cataleya is one of six babies born Sunday in Magic Valley. Cataleya and the first New Year’s babies in Twin Falls and Ketchum are all girls measuring 19 inches long.
