LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas’ first high school for adults is to open this summer in Little Rock.
Goodwill Industries of Arkansas has approval from the state Board of Education and the city of Little Rock for the Excel Center that will be in a renovated warehouse off Interstate 30.
The school is for people aged 19 and older who never received a high school diploma. It’s not a General Education Development, or GED, course and graduates receive diplomas instead of GED certificates.
Goodwill Industries of Arkansas president and CEO Brian Itzkowitz tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/2jL0dWD ) that Goodwill is preparing to fund the school for three years at about $1 million per year. Classes are to begin in July or August with plans to have 100 to 125 students during the first year.
