NBA star LeBron James used an interview on the league’s All-Star Game voting process on Friday to segue into an jab at President Donald Trump.

This year marks the first time NBA players were allowed to engage in All-Star Game voting. Endorsements for individuals who haven’t played this season, along with other oddities, prompted one reporter to ask the Cleveland Cavaliers’ star about the results. It was then that Mr. James, who publicly campaigned for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, pivoted into an attack on Mr. Trump.

“Do you think that [the process] worked the way intended?” a reporter asked before another individual mentioned “goofy votes.”

“There’s always goofy votes. I mean, Donald Trump is our president,” Mr. James said as members of the press burst into laughter.

Mr. James appeared at a Cleveland campaign rally for Mrs. Clinton just two days before her U.S. presidential election defeat. He also wrote an op-ed in October saying that she was the only candidate who “truly understands the struggles of an Akron child born into poverty.”

The 2017 NBA All-Star game will be held Feb. 19 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
