SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - A northern California bank robber is still at large despite a manhunt that temporarily closed a highway.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/2jmgIr8 ) that Scotts Valley police responded Thursday after a suspect robbed a bank and then fled into San Jose.

According to Santa Clara County Sheriff’s officials, a Scotts Valley police officer fired a weapon at the suspect, but the suspect was not believed to be hit. The sheriff’s office will investigate the officer-involved shooting.

Later in the manhunt, the suspect crashed his vehicle on Highway 17 in Santa Clara County and ran into the bushes. All lanes were closed for hours while officials searched for the suspect.
