RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore has chosen someone already working for him to lead the day-to-day operations in his office.
Moore announced that Bart Goodson will be his chief of staff during this year’s General Assembly work session. Goodson has been Moore’s general counsel, and the speaker said in a release Thursday that Goodson would continue those legal duties for now.
Goodson is a Wake Forest law school graduate and former assistant attorney general in the state Department of Justice who joined Moore’s office in July 2015.
Goodson succeeds previous chief of staff Clayton Somers, who is now a vice chancellor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
