PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A suspect has been acquitted in connection to the death of a Prescott Valley teenager.

The Daily Courier reports (https://bit.ly/2jj0xuM ) that on Wednesday a jury found Richard Quiroz not guilty of killing 17-year-old Gabriel Calderon in a drive-by shooting in April 2014. Quiroz has been released from custody.

Calderon was shot by a 12-guage shotgun on April 16, 2014, by a drive-by shooter. Prosecutors argue Quiroz owned a 12-guage shotgun at the time of the murder and that the gun disappeared the night of the killing. They also say Quiroz fled the state the next morning.

Defense attorneys argued that the state’s case was case on circumstantial evidence.
