SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - One day after the release of body-camera video in a high-profile Utah police shooting case police advocacy groups and protesters disagree on what they’re seeing.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2jq8KjV ) that supporters of 17-year-old Abdullahi “Abdi” Mohamed say the video clearly shows an unlawful shooting, but a police advocacy group says the officers were following their training and acting heroically.

Salt Lake City police officers Kory Checketts and Jordan Winegar shot and critically injured Mohamed, now 18, near a downtown homeless shelter on Feb. 27. Court records say Mohamed was assaulting another man over a drug dispute when the two officers came upon the fight.

Body-camera footage was released to the public Monday. The video shows the officers spotting Mohamed and the alleged beating victim from across the street and yelling multiple times to drop the broomstick. Mohamed falls after the shots are fired.
