Television icon Mary Tyler Moore has reportedly been taken to a Connecticut hospital.

Sources told entertainment website TMZ on Wednesday that Ms. Moore, 80, is in grave condition with family members by her bedside.

The star was first diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1966. 

Generations of Americans know Ms. Moore through her work on “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

The actress also appeared in films like director Robert Redford’s “Ordinary People” in 1980.
