WOBURN, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man charged with driving the getaway car in a 2014 bank robbery has filed a $750,000 lawsuit against the town of Arlington, the officer who shot him, and the police chief.

The Boston Globe (https://bit.ly/2jebxt7 ) reports that James Riley, of Quincy, says in his complaint filed in Middlesex Superior Court that he surrendered to police unarmed and had no idea his passenger was the suspect in an Arlington bank robbery. The suit alleges violation of his due process rights, malicious prosecution, and that he’s a victim of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Riley is currently in jail awaiting trial.

Prosecutors allege Riley brandished a realistic-looking pellet gun when confronted by police.

Arlington’s chief and town manager expressed confidence the lawsuit will be resolved in the town’s favor.
