MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police have arrested a man as an accessory after the fact related to a fatal shooting in Montpelier.

State police say 36-year-old Reginald Jones took 29-year-old homicide suspect Jayveon Caballero to the bus station in White River Junction last Sunday and purchased a bus ticket for him. It’s unclear if Jones has an attorney who can comment on the charge.

On Monday, state police issued an arrest warrant for Caballero, who’s wanted in the shooting of 33-year-old Markus Austin in the parking lot of an apartment complex early Sunday morning.

Authorities say the two were involved in an altercation outside Gustos bar in Barre. Witnesses say during the altercation Austin assaulted Caballero’s girlfriend.

State police believe Caballero confronted Austin outside Austin’s apartment and shot him.
