YORK, S.C. (AP) - Rock Hill police say a York man charged in a shooting that left two people dead last week is now facing an attempted murder charge.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports (https://bit.ly/2jqIZjG) 20-year-old Alexis Thomasson faces the new charge in connection with the Jan. 18 shooting. According to police, four people were involved in a drug deal that “went bad.” Investigators said one or more people planned to rob the other of drugs and/or money.

Thomasson was arrested and charged Jan. 20 by Rock Hill police on several charges.

York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said 26-year-old Jimmy Williamson of Rock Hill died at the scene from a gunshot wound, and 18-year-old Mekhi Rawlinson of York died at Piedmont Medical Center after being shot. A third victim remains hospitalized.
